Our Kids Safe Harbor, located inside SIU’s Center for Family Medicine in Springfield, is the first and only clinic in central and southern Illinois exclusively dedicated to providing primary care to children in foster care. We opened the clinic in January 2019. The clinic provides new patient comprehensive assessments for children zero to 18 years old within 21 days of entering foster care. Clinic services also include mental health, developmental assessments, treatment referrals and foster family counseling regarding behavioral and parenting concerns.
